"Not knowing what to expect I entered the space at La Paz and got comfortable.  What followed was out of myself and out of this world. Starting with a full dose of cacao, I got comfortable and followed the guided meditation to a state of relaxation and openness.  The sound delivered by Mr. Root Flute, from his self-made, multi-instrumented station, was phenomenal. It filled my being and carried me off and away. The skill of Daniel's performance is phenomenal. I started to see things; the rising music lifted me through jungles up to mountains, in moments of repreive I could fly above it all.  Visuals kept coming and I began to see a small version of myself, sat and made of light in the distance. As the music progressed so too did visions until the figure got so close it overlapped my being.  I became it and could see myself sat. An outer body experience. “Daniel Hansen's Sound Healing tonight was profound. Verbal cues and guided meditation in the beginning invited sitters to cue-in to their bodies and think about what to release and what to invite in. Often when I'm asked to set an intention, I can get caught up in the specificity of what I'm trying to phrase and my thinking mind can become distracted by this prompt. Linking 'release' with the vortex-like sound of his gong, Daniel gently encouraged me not to get caught up on the particular words and whenever the sound of the gong began to swirl and grow, to simply release. As that sound amplified, I felt waves of heavier breathing from those around me, also giving up a feeling or a sensation no linger serving them. I cried and something purged from my body. I was able to let go of needing to identify the specific named emotion or feeling that I was releasing. The sonic atmosphere was enveloping and I envisioned a black hole approaching --infinately vast, massive, and capable of taking in whatever I released into it. I felt safe and comfortable letting go, and fine not articulating what it was I was freeing into this void of sound. I've tried in the past to let go of a specific feeling with mixed success; something about Daniel's invitation this evening, a blend of honesty, humor, and simple explanation in the beginning, coupled with the sound space he created allowed me to lose myself in the phonic space and ground myself is simply being present. The herbal tinctures, coupled with the cacao, gave yet another anchor to the sounds to get curious about and tune in to, freeing my mind from thought. The flutes were particularly emotive and I was blissfully taken on a journey to an unknown destination following their scores.
